So i decided to take advantage of the health insurance that I will not have for much longer and I went to a head and neck specialist who had me go through a process of three tests. After a while I got more concerned because it was still large. After I felt it I thought to myself "hmmm, maybe i'm getting sick?", but I actually wouldn't get sick and I would forget all about it for another month or two until I randomly notice it again. I have an enlarged lymph node on the neck on the left side of my throat.
They are a worry for me, despite having them checked a few times because I suffer from health anxiety, among other things. It's more to see if people are in the same boat. No, I'm not asking for medical advice as I've already stated that I've had them checked.

Mine are pain free unless I have a cold/upper respiratory tract infection. You aren't alone in having nodes though, I have palpable lymph nodes too - more prominent on the left side of my neck with quite a big one which someone found when we were practising examining each other a few years ago, but I think I am just hyper-aware of them due to the fact I am a medic. I am not sure if you are seeking medical advice from this post or not - its not possible to advise over the internet if you are concerned about the nodes being anything important or more sinister - so if you are worried about them, maybe because something has changed or they haven't done what the GP said they would do, then I advise you to see your doctor about it. They also get really painful like they did at the start sometimes even though I don't have an infection any more.

I had them checked out numbers times over the last two years and the docs say they won't go down now but they aren't big enough to worry about plus I was ill when they came up which all points to them being reactive nodes and not something more sinister.Īnyone else had any nodes that have remained swollen? They are always a concern of mine despite the fact they haven't grown and no more have popped up. It's still the same size and movable to this day. Two weeks after that infection, I got a bad virus and felt that same pain I felt with jaw node again except lower down in my neck and I found a pea sized firm movable lump, another lymph node. I got antibiotics and it went down to a Malteaser size lump and it's stayed that way ever since. Nearly three years ago I had a really bad ear infection and the node behind my jaw/below ear was agony and swelled up to the size of a grape. Random question but just trying to see if anyone is in the same boat.
